We rate the players from Arsenal’s home win over Manchester United on Wednesday night at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal made it four consecutive wins across all competitions thanks to a convincing second half performance against Manchester United on Wednesday night at the Emirates Stadium.

After an even first half, albeit with Arsenal enjoying more of the ball, the Gunners took the lead in the 54th minute and in familiar fashion. Another clever set-piece routine saw Declan Rice find the rising Jurrien Timber at the front post, with the defender managing to flick it over Andre Onana in the United goal.

The second arrived in the 73rd minute and from another corner. This time Saka provided the delivery, finding Thomas Partey at the back post, and the midfielder headed it directly at William Saliba, the ball cannoning in off his body. Arsenal could have scored more, and almost exclusively from corners, but they had to settle for a 2-0 home win, making up two points on leaders Liverpool due to their draw with Newcastle United.

Here we rate the players from a good night at the Emirates for the Gunners.

David Raya - 7

Produced a top-drawer save in the 66th minute to deny a De Ligt header. Also produced a save to deny Anthony late on, but it was one you’d expect him to make.

Oleksandr Zinchenko (Off at 70’) - 7

Excellent on the ball, whether it was keeping it in tight spaces under pressure or stepping up and setting attacks in motion. He picked up a booking that was likely the reason he was withdraw. He staked a claim here.

Jakub Kiwior - 8

More than comfortable throughout. Formed a nice partnership with Saliba and looked after the ball well.

William Saliba - 8

Just as comfortable for the most part, with Arsenal defending well here, only giving up the odd chance. Saliba then popped up to score the second, but he knew nothing about it, with Partey heading it against him.

Jurrien Timber - 7

Struggled to deal with Garnacho’s pace at times in the first half but adjusted well. Did well to get the decisive touch for the opening goal, rising the highest of many jumping at the near post.

Thomas Partey - 7

Controlled the midfield well and produced the second by winning the back post header and fired it in off Saliba.

Declan Rice - 9

Another superbly delivered corner for the opener, and superbly delivered corners all night. United couldn’t handle them. Full of energy on and off the ball. Looked like he really wanted this one, and fans will have loved the desire.

Martin Odegaard (Off at 90’) - 6

Always eager to get on the ball, and he had time to do so, but when he did receive it, he was usually met with a low United block, making it difficult to find space. Odegaard was less involved in the second half despite the game opening up plenty, though he kept things ticking over in the final 10 minutes.

Gabriel Martinelli (Off at 70’) - 5

Created very little and didn’t look particularly dangerous. Withdrawn for Trossard in the 70th minute.

Bukayo Saka - 6

Saka wasn’t as involved as he would have liked to have been, with United doing a good job defending the wingers for the most part. Saka did produce some nice corner deliveries.

Kai Havertz - 6

Did not stand out but played a physical game. Havertz probably should have done better with a good chance in the 75th minute, hitting it straight at Onana at mid-height.

Substitutes

Leandro Trossard (On at 70’) - 6

Almost produced a wonderful assist when he danced through the United back line in the 82nd minute. Produced a couple of those nice runs, showing the bravery Martinelli lacked on the ball.

Unlucky not to score from one of the many Arsenal chances created from corners. Should have hit the target with his header. Steady on the ball.

Not enough time to impact the game.
