Wolves were labelled “terrible” by Rob Green for the positioning of their wall at Ashley Young’s free-kick that put Everton ahead in their 4-0 rout of Wolves on Wednesday.
The Toffees took the lead at Goodison Park (4 December) thanks to the 39-year-old, who curled an effort around the opposition wall and into the bottom-right corner.
It was a well-placed effort from the versatile defender but the positioning of the away side for the set-piece didn’t go down well with Green live on Amazon Prime Sport (4 December).
He said: “Where was the wall? The positioning of the wall is all wrong. You’ve got to put extra men outside the post.
“It’s just terrible positioning of the wall, Jose Sa’s been under pressure, said before the game you want to get the basics right, lining up the wall is basic. Ashley Young, full credit to him, he’s seen the opportunity, he’s seen the gap, he’s been doing it for years.”

The Toffees started the clash against Gary O’Neil’s side on the front foot and were certainly deserving of the comprehensive win that started with Young’s effort..
There was good work going forward from Dominic Calvert-Lewin which helped his side secure a free kick in a positive position on the edge of the box.
Despite interest from Dwight McNeil and Idrissa Gueye, the older statesman of the team took the ball and whipped it into the back of the net.
As good as this strike looked, on second viewing, the opposition have to be questioned for their positioning, which made it easier for the ex-England international.

Considering Wolves had conceded 32 goals before the trip to Merseyside, you would have thought work would have been done to get rid of mistakes from their backline.
That clearly wasn’t the case at Goodison, not that Sean Dyche will care given how positive and on the front foot his side were at times.
