City were in Premier League action against Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium as they looked to end their winless streak.
Pep Guardiola's men earned a 2-0 half-time lead thanks to goals from Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.
In the second half, City made it 3-0 after Jeremy Doku netted in the 57th minute.
Former City and Scotland defender Jen Beattie was full of praise for De Bruyne, who came off in the 74th minute.
She said on BBC Radio 5 Live: "A deserved standing ovation for Kevin de Bruyne.
"We know how hard it is to come back after being out for so long with an injury and to come back and play how he did and get a goal and assist is great. He played very, very well."
