Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite suffered an injury scare in the 4-0 win v Wolves on Wednesday, according to Joe Thomas.

The English centre-back was in discomfort as the first half ended but fortunately returned fine for the second period.

The Toffees secured three crucial points against fellow strugglers in front of their home fans at Goodison Park.

Thomas, a Liverpool Echo journalist, wrote on X: “HT – first half ends on a worrying note as Branthwaite hobbles off in some discomfort. Hopefully just a knock.

“(He returned fine for the second half).”

Everton will not want another Jarrad Branthwaite setback

The last thing the Toffees would want is for Branthwaite to spend another spell on the sidelines.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

He’s already missed several games this term through fitness issues and it’s evident that the Blues are significantly weaker without him in the team.

It’s a positive that he came out in the second half and played without looking awkward as that was still a possibility.

Hopefully, this is one that doesn’t aggravate over the coming days and is not something that was dealt with by painkillers.

He and James Tarkowski both did exceptionally well in front of the Everton fans and it’s imperative they play themselves into some form.

It was an important three points for Dyche as his job seemed to be under mounting pressure.

In other Everton news, Alan Myers has issued a claim on financial issues surrounding Sean Dyche’s sacking.
