Southampton 1-5 Chelsea: Player ratings as Blues run riot on the South Coast

Chelsea secured a commanding 5-1 win against Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium on Wednesday, December 4. The Blues have climbed to second place in the Premier League table, seven points behind leaders Liverpool.

The visitors opened the scoring in the seventh minute after Axel Disasi headed home from an Enzo Fernandez corner. The Saints quickly drew level in the 11th minute through Joe Aribo, but the Blues restored their lead in the 17th minute through Christopher Nkunku.

Noni Madueke got on the scoreboard in the 34th minute as the visitors went into the break with a 3-1 lead.

Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer got his customary goal in the 77th minute before Jason Sancho bagged a fifth in the 87th minute to complete the mauling.

Filip Jorgensen - 7 /10

Jorgensen put in a fine performance for Chelsea and will be disappointed to have conceded a goal. He made three saves in the game.

Malo Gusto - 7.5 /10

The French defender had a brilliant game for the West Londoners and marked the occasion with an assist. Gusto made the most tackles in the match (5).

Axel Disasi - 8 /10

The Frenchman opened the scoring with a fine header in the seventh minute and was solid defensively.

Tosin Adarabioyo - 7 /10

The former Fulham defender had a fine game against Southampton and looked solid beside Disasi. He was unfortunate not to find the back of the net, hitting the woodwork twice.

Marc Cucurella - 7/10

The Euro 2024 winner had a solid game for Chelsea before his withdrawal in the 79th minute. He completed 85% of his passes and made one recovery before coming off.

Enzo Fernandez - 7.5 /10

The Copa America 2024 winner was dominant in midfield and helped his side's cause with an early assist. He completed the most passes in the match (74)

Moises Caicedo - 7/10

The Ecuadorian midfielder had another solid performance for Chelsea in the heart of midfield. He completed 94% of his passes and made four recoveries to maintain control in midfield.

Cole Palmer - 8/10

The mercurial forward bagged another goal for the Blues in a solid display to help his side to a comfortable victory. He created two chances and tested the Saints' keeper four times in the match.

Noni Madueke - 9/10

The former PSV Eindhoven winger was brilliant for Chelsea, bagging a goal and an assist.

Joao Felix - 7/10

The Portuguese star had a decent game for the visitors, but was wasteful with his chances.

Christopher Nkunku - 9 /10

The Frenchman was another contender for the man of the match. Despite having the least touches (24) among the players who played the full 90 minutes, Nkunku scored a goal and provided an assist.

The Manchester United loane came on late and marked his inclusion with a fine strike to wrap up the scoring.
