Craig Dawson endured a nightmarish evening at Goodison Park on Wednesday as Wolves suffered a 4-0 defeat against Everton.
The Wolves No.15 scored two own goals to leave his side 19th in the Premier League after 14 games, a result which could cost Gary O’Neil his job at Molineux.
In doing so, the man born in Rochdale joined a highly exclusive club of just five players who have scored two own goals in one Premier League match – let’s take a look at who sits alongside Craig Dawson.
Jamie Carragher first of five players to net two own goals in a Premier League match
It was actually Jamie Carragher who became the first player in Premier League history to put the ball into his own net twice in one match, doing so while playing for Liverpool against Manchester United of all sides in a 3-2 defeat at Anfield back in September 1999.

Then, Michael Proctor joined the man from Bootle in reaching this unwanted feat, scoring own goals in the 29th minute and the 32nd minute for Sunderland against Charlton back in 2002/03, compounding the Black Cats to a 3-1 defeat.
Jonathan Walters did something even worse
Procter will not have felt as bad as Jonathan Walters, however, who not only scored two own goals in a 4-0 win for Chelsea back in January 2013, but missed a penalty for Stoke as well.
Wout Faes then became the fourth member of the club, putting into his own net twice while playing for Leicester against Liverpool at Anfield back in December 2022, handing the Reds a 2-1 win despite the Foxes going 1-0 up.
Now, Dawson, who shone at West Ham, has become the fifth player in Premier League history to score the dreaded brace, in a game he will never want to see again, we presume.
