Wolves defender Craig Dawson made unwanted history on Wednesday as he became the first player to score multiple own goals in a Premier League match.

Dawson twice put the ball into his own net as Everton ran out 4-0 winners at Goodison Park. ESPN Research confirmed it is the first time in Premier League history.

Everton were already winning 2-0 in the second half when Dwight McNeil's corner was bundled into his own net by Dawson, who was under pressure from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Dawson's second own goal came when he stretched to keep out a deep free kick from McNeil as Calvert-Lewin applied pressure again, but he only succeeded in steering the ball past his own goalkeeper José Sá.

Dawson, 34, joined Wolves from West Ham United in January 2023. He has made 300 career Premier League appearances.
