Arsenal legend Ian Wright expressed his frustration with Kai Havertz during the Gunners’ 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Wednesday night, a result that tightened the Premier League title race.
Arsenal dominated the second half at the Emirates Stadium, with defenders Jurrien Timber and William Saliba scoring from corners to hand Ruben Amorim his first defeat as United manager. The win allowed Arsenal to capitalise on Liverpool’s slip-up, trimming the Reds’ lead at the top of the table.
The Gunners now sit third with 28 points, level with Chelsea and seven behind league leaders Liverpool.

Arsenal could have taken the lead within the opening minutes when Gabriel Martinelli found the back of the net. However, the goal was ruled out for offside as Havertz had strayed beyond the defensive line before setting up Martinelli.

“Why was he so sloppy there?” Wright vented. “He’s just like… look at him! You know what, just there, he’s just got to run half a yard quicker and then he is onside, Havertz.

“I hate it when forwards don’t get onside. Why don’t they just get back onside? We should be 1-0 up. I’m so tired of seeing strikers do that.”
Despite Wright’s harsh words, Arsenal midfielder Jorginho offered a spirited defence of Kai Havertz before the match. Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents: FIVE, Jorginho praised the 24-year-old’s impact on the team.
“It’s crazy because he’s just an unbelievable player,” Jorginho said. “At the beginning when people were hammering him, I was like, what are they talking about?
“I actually went to Kai a few times and said, ‘Kai, don’t listen, forget about it. You know what you can do.’ The way he’s been helping the team is incredible, and he’s becoming tougher every day.”
