When I heard Arsenal were two key defenders short against a recently resurgent Man U due to new manager bounce I felt a little bit nervous. Also a rumour that Odergaard might not play as his wife was expecting any moment also seemed to be borne out by a rather sluggish Martin at times. However the tales of Man U recovery were somewhat exaggerated.
However a momentous display by Rice kept the defence well shielded and allowed Zinny to attack. Man U were nuisance value in the first half, but in the second half Arsenal pushed on and tested the new managers organisation at corners and very little was the answer. Two goals scored from corners and it could easily have been more and it was game over. Arteta had the satisfaction of being the first Arsenal manager in a very long while to win four Premier League Home Games in a row against Man U.
