Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed which goalkeeper shall be starting on Sunday when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
Maresca chose to rotate his squad and it immediately paid off as Axel Disasi headed home inside ten minutes for the Blues. Joe Aribo equalised quickly for the relegation-threatened hosts but that was as good as it got for them.
Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke had made it 3-1 before Jack Stephens was sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella's hair. That ended the game as a contest with Chelsea able to cruise to victory.
Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho's second-half goals sealed the deal for the Blues and moved them up to second in the Premier League, seven points behind leaders Liverpool who drew at Newcastle United. As mentioned, Chelsea rotated for this game and started Filip Jorgensen but Maresca has confirmed he will not be in goal when they face Spurs on Sunday.
"That day we are going to play Sanchez and ten players," Maresca told the media at full-time. "The only one that is sure is Sanchez."
Sanchez has gained his fair share of critics this season having made mistakes but his record is not too bad on paper. He has conceded 14 goals in 13 appearances and kept three clean sheets in that time.
Chelsea will expect a tougher challenge against Tottenham at the weekend, particularly considering the fierce nature of the derby between the two clubs. Last season's trip to North London saw Chelsea win 4-1 in a wild game that saw Tottenham reduced to nine men.
