Arsenal secured an impressive 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Wednesday night to close the gap on the league leaders.
It was a night filled with goals across the Premier League and the result on Tyneside will certainly have pleased Mikel Arteta and his men.
The Gunners came into the game knowing they were well adrift of Liverpool at the top of the table but their draw against Newcastle United did provide Arsenal an opportunity.
Seven points now separates Arsenal in third and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.
Ian Wright wanted to see Arsenal improve, and he will have been pleased with what he saw on Wednesday in north London.

What Arsenal’s Declan Rice said about Liverpool’s draw
Speaking to Amazon Prime after the game, Rice admitted he would not be getting too carried away by Liverpool dropping points.
“It’s good but people get carried away with the title talk,” he said.
“I was involved in my first last year and you just need to be in and around it by February time. I think it’s too early to be calling what’s going on.
“Liverpool dropped points but what are they [seven] points ahead? Look, it’s closer but there’s still a long way to go.”
The England international showing his leadership skills in not getting too carried away by the results elsewhere, despite it being a positive night for the Gunners.
Some Arsenal fans thought William Saliba was their best player against the Red Devils but they may well be in full agreement with what Rice had to say.

Jakub Kiwior also impressed for Arsenal against United but it was Rice who was handed the Man of the Match award.
And it was a dominant display from the midfielder who set the pace after being made to work for all three points by Ruben Amorim’s side.

Kai Havertz has hailed Rice as ‘unreal’ recently and he certainly showed that as he continues to set the example in the midfield for Arsenal.
