“Sometimes you have to say well done” – Former Chelsea star impressed with Blues player

One former Chelsea star was really impressed with one current Blues player during their 5-1 win against Southampton last night.

The Saints certainly did not go marching on last night when Chelsea rolled into town. And in fact, they only solidified themselves as the team holding up the rest of the teams in the Premier League right now, being rock bottom of the table.

Southampton are in a lot of trouble, and the way they played last night only added more trouble. Chelsea’s high press was quick and dangerous, and they often won the ball off Southampton failing to play out from the back, and that then led to goals.

One of Chelsea’s goals came from winger Noni Madueke, who stepped inside onto his left foot as he always loves to do when driving at the full back. He found an inch of space to get the shot off and slotted a superb finish into the corner of the net.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink would have been proud of that finsih….

And he was!

Madueke scored again last night

The former Chelsea striker, who was a pundit on Amazon Prime Video for Southampton versus Chelsea, highlighted Madueke for some special praise.

Hasselbaink analysed Madueke’s goal by saying (8:26pm, 4 December): “This is pure class. This is what you can’t do anything about as a defender. You can maybe go closer, but sometimes you have to say well done. This is well done from Madueke, brilliant class. He comes inside and puts it in the side net in the far corner.”

Madueke also assisted Christopher Nkunku’s goal last night but even after all of that, his manager Enzo Maresca revealed that he is expecting and demanding more from the England international, who he has been frustrated with in training lately.
