“What’s really improved” – Pundit highlights Chelsea player for elevating his game

A football pundit has highlighted one Chelsea player for elevating his game and improving this season, really making him stand out.

Chelsea are on cloud nine right now as a club on the whole. Enzo Maresca has come in to the club and his start here could not have gone any better so far. Not one single person expected Chelsea and Maresca to be doing as well as they are currently doing this season, sitting second in the league right now and chasing Liverpool at the top.

The Italian coach will be very pleased with how things are going this season, and a big win at Southampton last night would have also helped all of the above. Chelsea won 5-1 away from home in what ended up being a very easy match after Southampton had a player sent off. At the start of the game it actually looked like it was going to be a banana skin match for Chelsea, but in the end their quality paid off and Saints struggled with losing a player.

Cucurella has been so good this season

Commentator and pundit Stephen Warnock was impressed by the performance of Blues player Marc Cucurella at the back, saying he believes he has improved greatly in this Chelsea side.

He said on Amazon Prime: “I’ve been really impressed by him, he’s improved so much. Often moves into that midfield position, but what’s really improved has been his 1v1 defending.”

I actually don’t think Cucurella was amazing last night. He wasn’t bad, but he certainly wasn’t one of the best Chelsea players. But he has been absolutely superb this season and also off the back end of last season. He has improved immensely and has become a hugely important player for Maresca.
