'They are the ones' - Alan Shearer makes strong PL title prediction after Liverpool and Arsenal …

Liverpool maintained their unbeaten run to 17 games in all competitions after securing a 3-3 draw against Newcastle United on Wednesday night.

The Reds are now seven points clear at the top of the table, and Alan Shearer has predicted how the league could shape up.

Arsenal and Chelsea won their respective games, while Manchester City also returned to winning ways after a mini-slump in form.

The popular football pundit suggests that Liverpool are now “favourites” to win the title, but he expects their journey to be far from perfect.

The Newcastle legend says Arsenal are most likely to challenge the Reds, but he doesn’t see Pep Guardiola’s side making a strong comeback and pushing Liverpool to the wire.

Shearer said after the game: “Liverpool are favourites now for the Premier League title after their start to the season.

“It’s not all going to be perfection for them though. They will have to answer some questions, like they did at Newcastle tonight.

“Arsenal are the closest to them and they are the ones that are going to challenge them. I don’t see Manchester City coming back from where they are, even though they are back to winning ways. They’ve left themselves with a lot to do.”

Liverpool will not get carried away

The result against Newcastle is a timely reminder to the Reds squad about the challenges they could face away from home and that they must be prepared.

There’s still a lot of questions Slot needs to answer. Darwin Nunez has struggled to impress in the absence of Diogo Jota, and Slot needs to figure out how he can get the best out of him.

Joe Gomez still needs to prove that he can be trusted at the back. He made some poor mistakes against the Magpies, and Slot must decide whether to start with him or Quansah against Everton in the next match.

Arsenal have won four games in a row, and it is not surprising that their results have improved following the return of Martin Odegaard from injury.

Liverpool should not get carried away with the lead, and they must simply focus on winning games. Both Arsenal and City are capable of taking the title race to the end, and the current lead from Liverpool hardly makes any difference.
