Nottingham Forest lost 3-0 to Manchester City last night to make it two consecutive defeats by the same scoreline.
The Reds had their moments against the reigning champions but ultimately were made to pay by a ruthless City team determined to prove a point.
The game on hinged on a miss from Chris Wood after he raced through one-on-one with the game 1-0 to City. He fired wide and moments later, the ball was in Forest’s net.
Stuart Pearce praised Wood before kick-off but the nine-goal talisman won’t want to dwell too much on that missed opportunity.
Nuno Espirito Santo will be keen to move on from this game pretty quickly and Forest go to Manchester United on Saturday looking for an improved performance.

Gael Clichy hails Nottingham Forest figure after Manchester City defeat
It might not have been a night to remember in the North West but Forest did compete against a top, top side.
Results against teams like Manchester City will go awry but ultimately, Forest will still want to improve on a few things for Saturday’s trip to United.
Espirito Santo has still done well to get Forest into this position in the league table and Clichy admitted last night that he’s not in the least bit surprised.

He said on Amazon Prime: “Everyone acts surprised but we forget that he’s a top manager, you know, he’s been abroad with a number of teams too, so I’m not surprised seeing Forest so high.
“He’s a top coach and he knows how to play, and which buttons to press at which parts in this game.”
Forest are kicking on under Nuno Espirito Santo
As Forest fans we simply have to temper the expectations a little bit.
This run of fixtures was always going to be tricky and Forest are to a certain degree staying true to form.
The Reds have more hard games to come on the horizon and it’s all about how Forest keep preparing and continue to pick up points here and there.
Ultimately, Forest are starting to beat the team that should be beaten and that will be enough to achieve a really positive season after 38 games.
All is not lost after losing to a team like City and with Espirito Santo at the helm you can bet that there will be tireless work happening on the training ground today.
