Jadon Sancho receives Cole Palmer Chelsea response after huge Bournemouth win

Chelsea recorded a dominant 5-1 win at relegation strugglers Southampton on Wednesday night.

Goals from Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku, Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho saw the Blues move up to second in the Premier League table on goal difference. Chelsea sit seven points off league leaders Liverpool after 14 games.

Enzo Maresca's side will be full of confidence heading into Sunday's London derby against Tottenham (kick-off: 4:30pm).

And two of Thursday's goalscorers against the Cherries have now reacted on social media after thrashing Andoni Iraola's team. Sancho has opened up on scoring his first goal for the Blues with Palmer responding.

"First goal, unforgettable feeling," he said on Instagram. "Strong team performance See you Sunday blues!" In response, Palmer commented: "one per cent", followed by a brick emoji.

Maresca was asked about the number of goalscorers in his team against Bournemouth, admitting that it is a good feeling for his ever-improving side.

"We said, if you remember from the beginning of the season, the way we played with the two wingers, the two attacking midfielders and the No.9 are in charge of the goals," he said in his post-match press conference.

"You can see the goals from Noni, from Cole, from Jadon, from Nico, Christo - they are all attacking players and it's a good feeling that all of them can be involved in the goals.

"I think there are just three or four teams that have conceded less than us. So we are very happy."

Asked about the scoreline, he added: "I'm very happy with the five we scored but I'm not happy about the first 10 or 15 minutes when we struggled.

"The reason why we struggled is because we prepared the game to press them man-to-man but in the first 15 or 20 minutes, we were not pressing them man-to-man. This is a team that if you don't go man-to-man, then you struggle to recover the ball.

"Then after that, we adjusted that and the game was much better. But we could score more, but five goals is enough."
