Wolves fans called for O'Neil to be sacked
Gary O'Neil insists he will keep on fighting at Wolves despite fans calling for him to be sacked.
Everton thrashed their fellow strugglers to make it nine defeats this season and 36 goals conceded in 14 games for Wolves with O’Neil in danger of getting the boot. The performance led to chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” and “Gary, what’s the score?” from the travelling support.
O’Neil said: “Whatever the fans think of me, there is definitely no-one working harder than me and I will continue to do so until someone tells me not to.
“I appreciate every one of the Wolves fanbase. They have given me unbelievable support. Now it’s tough, I am happy to look them in the face and take whatever criticism they throw at me. I accept full responsibility.

“I will work with everything I have. I will back myself to get the most of the group. I understand the drive for change. You never know how much of a percentage of supporters it is, negative noise is always the loudest, but I understand.”
Everton didn’t score in the month of November. They only got three in October, too. But last night they found their touch in front of goal to get a much-needed first win since October 19 and ease pressure on boss Sean Dyche as they moved five points clear of the bottom three.
After a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester United and with rivals Liverpool to come on Saturday, this was a big win in a tough month for the Toffees. Everton had not scored in four games, either. That meant at kick-off it was six hours without a goal. But it only stretched to another 10 minutes.

Abdoulaye Doucoure was fouled at the end of the area and Ashley Young stepped up to curl home a low free-kick for his first league goal since October 2022. The second came in the 33rd minute. Orel Mangala fired in from the edge of the area and it found the net via a deflection.
Everton added a third soon after the restart. Dwight McNeil’s corner was met by Calvert-Lewin and his header went in off Craig Dawson for an own goal. The third goal started the chants against O’Neil.
Calvert-Lewin again thought he got his first goal since September 14 when another McNeil free-kick was whipped in. But this time Dawson beat him to the ball to turn into his own net again. Not that the Toffees cared.
Dyche said: “I don’t think I’ve been under any more pressure than I’ve been here. It was a very good performance. I’m proud of them. They’ve been through all kinds of challenges.”
