Three Leicester City players who could be sold in January after unwelcome prediction made -…

Leicester City were dealt an unwanted prediction by a financial expert recently and may need to sell some big names.

Earlier this year, the Premier League charged Leicester City with a breach of their spending rules in the three-year period leading up the the 2022/23 season.

The Foxes won their PSR case thanks to Nick De Marco, but while they have avoided a points deduction for the time being, the club remain in a bad state financially.

We have since provided an update on Leicester’s financial situation, speaking to TBR’s Head of Football Content, Business, Finance & Governance, Adam Williams to do so.

When speaking to Leicester City News, Williams provided a detailed insight into the club’s woes, highlighting a £90m loss.

He said: “The only published set of accounts we have which are now relevant to their 2024-25 calculation – i.e., the three-year period up to the 30th June 2025 – are the 2022-23 books, which showed a £90m loss.

“That is basically the same as they lost in the previous season. It will be more challenging this season, however, as Leicester’s allowable loss is £83m because they spent one of the last three seasons in the Championship.”

Even more concerningly, the finance expert predicted we will see more outgoings than incomings at Leicester in January, stating: “If I had to make a forecast, I would say you’re more likely to see sales outweigh new arrivals in January.”

Mads Hermansen

Mads Hermansen has been an absolute revelation since joining the Midlands outfit.

He may have kept just one clean sheet in the Premier League this term, but Leicester fans have been wowed by Hermansen on more than one occasion.

But with the Foxes needing cash to help their PSR calculations, the 24-year-old is one of their most sellable assets.

It emerged last month via Ben Jacobs, that Enzo Maresca is looking to reunite with the Dane at Chelsea, with a £35m price tag touted.

Boubakary Soumare

Boubakary Soumare has had a mixed stint in England, struggling for regular game time and being loaned out to Sevilla since his transfer in 2021.

However, this season, including in the win over West Ham United, Soumare is finally showing why Leicester signed him.

Yet again though, if the Foxes need cash, the 25-year-old’s sale does make a fair bit of sense.

Sevilla wanted to sign Soumare in the summer window but they could not get a deal over the line. They may, however, look to revisit that move if Leicester are now open to selling.

Michael Golding

Michael Golding only joined the relegation-threatened side this past summer from Chelsea.

However, Golding is struggling for playing time at Leicester and is still yet to make his senior debut for the club.

Given he is still only 18, the former Blues academy product would fetch a small but tidy sum if sold in January.

And while losing such a promising prospect would be a big blow, it does make sense to let him leave as he is seemingly not ready to play regularly for Leicester just yet.
