Roy Keane points furious finger of blame as Liverpool vs Newcastle moment drives icon mad

Roy Keane lambasted Alexis Mac Allister's role in allowing Alexander Isak to net for Newcastle against Liverpool.

Starting in midfield for the Reds at St James' Park with Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones, Mac Allister received a booking for fouling Fabian Schar just 20 minutes into the heated encounter—a card that earns him a suspension for the crucial Merseyside Derby against Everton on Saturday.

However, Keane was more concerned about the Argentine's impact on the game in Newcastle. A quarter-hour post his caution, Isak scored for the hosts after Bruno Guimaraes sidestepped Mac Allister and sent the Swedish striker through, who shrugged off Virgil van Dijk and blasted an unyielding shot into the top right.

Keane pointed the blame squarely at Mac Allister for charging out of line which created space for Guimaraes.

He remarked during The Overlap's Watchalong: "Look at Mac Allister. Look at Mac Allister. Look at Mac Allister. Look at Mac Allister. Look at Mac Allister here. He can't. Great strike. What power. If you're on a yellow card and can't run don't go in there."

Meanwhile, Chelsea icon Pat Nevin lauded Isak's superb play and renowned goal-scoring ability, keenly observing his performance which saw Newcastle maintain their advantage until the interval.

Former Chelsea star Pat Nevin was left in awe of Alexander Isak's incredible strike, telling BBC Radio 5 Live: "Alexander Isak is some player! Moments after he set up Lewis Hall for a chance which he can't get on target he goes alone, turning Virgil van Dijk about 25 yards out and then absolutely leathering the ball into the roof of the net.

"That had power, swerve, dip...a sensational goal! Liverpool made a good start to this game, but as the first half went on, Newcastle have got better and better. And Alexander Isak has been the absolute star of the show."

"He's created some golden chances for his team-mates before hitting one into the top corner. It was a very, very special goal from a special player."
