Jamie Carragher has had his say on Mohamed Salah's contract situation
Jamie Carragher has laid out what Mohamed Salah's new Liverpool contract should look like - admitting he doesn't think the star is due a pay rise.
The Egyptian's contract situation has dominated the headlines during Arne Slot's debut campaign at Anfield, which has seen the Reds soar to the Premier League summit. As yet there has been no breakthrough in negotiations between Salah and Liverpool, with the ex-Roma man free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club next month due to his current deal expiring next summer.
However, the uncertainty surrounding his future hasn't hampered his performances on the pitch. He surpassed Erling Haaland as the league's top scorer with 13 goals for the campaign so far after his brace in Liverpool's 3-3 draw against Newcastle on Wednesday (December 4).

The 32-year-old hasn't shied away from discussing his expiring contract in public, which Carragher has pushed back on, having recently called him selfish for his outbursts.
During an appearance on It's Called Soccer! podcast, the Sky Sports pundit discussed what he thinks Liverpool should offer Salah, but stated he doesn't believe he warrants a raise in pay given his reported salary of £350,000.
"If Liverpool are saying 'we're only going to give him a year's contract and we want him to take a big reduction in wages', I don't think that's right," he told Gary Neville and Rebecca Lowe.

Lowe went on to claim that Salah's supreme form should see him be offered an increase in wages, to which Carragher responded: "I don't think more, I think he's still one of the highest paid players. I don't think he should get less money, he's still the best player in the team, him and Virgil van Dijk.
"For me it'll be a two-year contract but if he's willing to sign a year's contract and then Liverpool don't get that deal done, I can assure you I'll do a 180, I'll be looking at the club. My criticism of Mo Salah isn't because of the contract, it's speaking publicly when Liverpool are in such a great position."
Carragher changed his tune during Liverpool's clash against Newcastle on Wednesday after Salah set up Curtis Jones' equaliser. He said: "Get in, get in Curtis lad, 1-1, get paid, back in the game, Mo Salah, give him what he wants, get in."
He strengthened his position on Salah after he scored his 12th of the season as he shouted: "Give him what he wants!" before adding: "Why don't they just give him the contract?"
