Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy looks on
Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy oversaw Leicester City's win over West Ham on Tuesday
Ruud van Nistelrooy has received a brilliant response from Manchester United players past and present after his first win as Leicester City manager.
The Dutchman left Old Trafford last month after a spell as assistant manager before becoming interim boss following the sacking of Erik ten Hag. The former Reds striker oversaw two wins over Leicester, a victory over PAOK, and a draw against Chelsea during his four-game spell in charge of United.
Van Nistelrooy has since succeeded Steve Cooper at the King Power Stadium, with his new team recording a 3-1 victory over West Ham United on Tuesday night. Goals from Jamie Vardy, Bilal El Khannous and Patson Daka lifted the Foxes up to 16th in the Premier League table, four points clear of the bottom three.

And he has marked the victory with a post on social media. "Winning TEAM," he said on Instagram, followed by a blue circle emoji to represent Leicester City colours.
Former United centre-back Rio Ferdinand responded with a clapping hands emoji, whilst Amad, Lisandro Martinez, Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho were among the current players to like the post.
Van Nistelrooy has confessed that his departure from United last month was a painful experience. "The moment I took over the interim job, what I said was I’m here to help United and to stay to help United, and I meant it," he said
"So I was disappointed, yeah, very much so, and it hurt I had to leave. The only job I would take as an assistant was at United because of the bond that I have with the people in the club and the fans."
However, he acknowledged understanding the new manager's perspective for a fresh start. He added: "I spoke to Ruben about it, fair enough to him, the conversation was grateful, man-to-man, person-to-person, manager-to-manager, and that helped a lot to move on and straightaway get into talks with new possibilities which of course lifted my spirits."
