Fabian Schar posts quality message after bagging late equaliser in NUFC's 3-3 draw with…

**Ever have those days where you're not feeling too great, and when you wake up the next day, you're not sure what was real and what wasn't? That's my past 24 hours summed up right there, but it turns out that the 3-3 draw with Liverpool was, in fact, real.**

Newcastle United put on their most convincing display of the season so far, a performance that should serve as a reminder to everyone, the players and staff included, that we have plenty of quality in our squad and are good enough to compete at the top end of the table.

Obviously, there's plenty of room for improvement, but on our day, we should fear nobody.

More telling from last night's game, though, was the fighting spirit that exists in our squad these days.

Newcastle led twice before going behind against Liverpool

---------------------------------------------------------

Twice Newcastle were pegged back from a leading position before then going down to 2-3 in the 83rd minute. A cynical eye would also notice that refereeing decisions were starting to go Liverpool's way more and more and that the writing was on the wall.

However, Fabian Schar got on the end of an inch-perfect Bruno Guimaraes free-kick to slide the ball home on 90 minutes to bring the Magpies level.

After that it was Liverpool who were denied a couple of penalty claims, before the referee blew up for full-time with Newcastle bearing down on goal. Whatever Arne Slot said to the ref at half time clearly worked.

Toonies never say die!

After the game, Fabian Schar took to social media to post a seven-word message we absolutely love.

> "Never say die at our house"

We said last night that they'd clearly been watching The Goonies before the game, and now I'm absolutely convinced of it.
