Wolves face West Ham on Monday, and a decision has been seemingly been made on the manager.
Gary O’Neil is likely to remain as Wolves manager for their next game, it has been reported.
According to talkSPORT, the plan is for O'Neil to remain in charge for the game against West Ham on Monday. The hierarchy is aware however that he has lost the support of those who regularly attend matches.
Wolves suffered a 4-0 defeat to relegation rivals Everton which saw them slide down the table to second from bottom. They've conceded 36 goals, six more than bottom side Southampton. In the aftermath of the defeat at Goodison Park, travelling supporters booed the team, and chanted ‘Sacked in the morning’ at their own manager.
Responding to the chants, the former Bournemouth manager said: “Whatever the fans think of me, there is definitely no-one working harder than me and I will continue to do so until someone tells me not to.
“I appreciate every one of the Wolves fanbase. They have given me unbelievable support. Now it’s tough, I am happy to look them in the face and take whatever criticism they throw at me. I accept full responsibility.
“I will work with everything I have. I will back myself to get the most of the group. I understand the drive for change. You never know how much of a percentage of supporters it is, negative noise is always the loudest, but I understand.”
O'Neil and his backroom staff only signed a four-year deal in the summer, which would keep them at Molineux until the summer of 2028. Last term, he guided Wolves to a 14th-placed finish, but this season, Wolves have only won twice in the league.
Our friends at the Express & Star has a slightly different take on O’Neil’s future. They say that Wolves are sounding out potential head coach replacements. O’Neil’s position is under ‘serious threat’ and it ‘remains to be seen’ whether he gets the game on Monday.

Meanwhile West Ham have their own manager decision to make with Julen Lopetegui under pressure. It's being reported by Sky Sports that the Spaniard's future hangs in the balance following a 3-1 defeat to Leicester City in midweek.
There's a split between the club's board of 60-40 over whether to part ways with the former Spain boss. He only arrived at the London Stadium in the summer after replacing David Moyes.
One thing that could sway their decision is that according to Football Insider and West Ham Zone, they wouldn’t need to pay Lopetegui’s contract up in full. Football Insider’s report said that it is likely they would have likely agreed a fixed compensation clause.
