'Came up to me': Ashley Young reveals what a Wolves coach asked him at half-time after his…

Everton finally returned to the win column on Wednesday evening as they defeated relegation rivals Wolves 4-0 at Goodison Park.

The Toffees moved up to 15th with a win and have now put five points between them and the bottom three.

Sean Dyche’s men emphatically ended their four-game goal draught and the pressure has certainly eased on the Everton boss.

It was previously reported that the Friedkin Group have their eye on Sergio Conceicao, who is available after leaving Porto earlier this year.

But those plans will surely be put on hold now as Dyche looks to start building momentum ahead of the busy festive period.

Ashley Young, Orel Mangala and two own goals from Craig Dawson sealed the three points on Merseyside.

And, speaking after the game, Young revealed what a Wolves coach asked him at half-time following his curling free kick goal.

Ashley Young shares what Wolves goalkeeping coach asked him

Ashley Young’s sensational opening goal made Premier League history, as he became the oldest player to score from a direct set-piece.

Young, in his post-match interview, admitted that he spotted a gap in the wall and revealed that a member of the Wolves coaching staff asked him about it half-time.

“Their goalkeeping coach came up to me at half-time, saying was there a gap (in the wall) and I said there was,” the 39-year-old explained.

“So I’m sure he had a few choice words for their goalkeeper.”

Ashley Young playing his way into one-year extension

Young, who turns 40 next year, is heading into the final months of his contract at Goodison Park.

His deal expires in June and at this stage, there have been no suggestions of a renewal, but with the way he’s performing, that should surely change.

Despite his age, Young continues to be a consistent performer for Dyche and his all-round display yesterday amplifies that.

Plus, if Everton do indeed sign a long-term rightback in the next transfer window, having Young around would be massively beneficial for his development.

The former Manchester United man certainly deserves it.
