An update has been provided on Wolves’ position on Gary O’Neil.

Wolves have reportedly began sounding out new options for a head coach, should they make the decision to sack Gary O'Neil.

Our friends at the Express & Star says it 'remains to be seen' whether O'Neil will be afforded the opportunity to manage the team on Monday against West Ham. Wolves suffered a 4-0 defeat to Everton, and that's put GON under an immense amount of pressure in a game that was viewed at as a relegation six-pointer.

Should Wolves call time on O’Neil’s tenure, then it has been reported that Graham Potter is their number one choice. There are doubts however whether the two could work together, as it ‘may be difficult’ for the club to appoint him due to their current transfer model.

Potter has been out of work for 20 months having been sacked by Chelsea after just six months. The Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail said that Chelsea had to shell £13m in compensation after sacking him.

The former Swansea City boss was at the King Power Arena as a pundit for their coverage of Leicester City against West Ham. He spoke of his desire to return to management, but admitted he was enjoying his current position.

"Yeah, of course," said Potter.

"As I’ve said before you’re open to everything but at the same time I’m really enjoying this (punditry) because it is another perspective. You get to see it from your eyes and how the media thinks about the game.

"That’s always interesting. It makes you realise how much you know. It’s a different lens so that can only make you better once you understand that as well.”

Despite talk of identifying Potter as a potential successor, O’Neil will conduct his pre-match press conference for the game against West Ham on Monday. GON will address the press on Thursday, despite the usual day for a conference being on Friday’s.
