Enzo Maresca leaks team news as Chelsea prepare to face Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are set to face Chelsea at the weekend, with the West Londoners having a bit of a goalkeeper roulette with Danish ace Filip Jorgensen starting ahead of Robert Sanchez against Southampton in the midweek, leaving an abundance of questions about who will start against the Lilywhites in the London derby.

The former Brighton keeper, who was once subject to links with a move to White Hart Lane, has incurred an inconsistent spell in front of goal of late, with a number of costly mistakes raising question marks about his place in the side. However, despite the criticisms, Enzo Maresca has kept his faith in Sanchez, while summer signing Filip Jorgensen was played in the cup competitions until Wednesday…

Sanchez or Jorgensen?

Chelsea and Maresca made wholesale changes (seven to be precise) for the midweek trip to St. Mary’s, with Jorgensen enjoying a decent outing despite coming through without a clean sheet. However, Maresca, in his postgame press conference, has confirmed that Robert Sanchez will return to the backline for the fixture this Sunday.

Maresca was quizzed on whether Jorgensen will keep his place for the Spurs game; he said, “That day we are going to play Sanchez and 10 players. The only one that is sure is Sanchez.”

Advantage Tottenham?

For Tottenham, Chelsea’s ongoing goalkeeper roulette can be seen as an opportunity at Hotspur Way as Ange Postecoglou will look to capitalise on the uncertainty in their backline. The Spurs forwards will come out with a mindset of testing Sanchez, who has been making mistakes this season, especially when faced with high-intensity offensive sequences.

Spurs will be looking to make it count this Sunday and hoping a mistake (or two) from Sanchez could help them sit in a positive space in the game.
