Chelsea have been looking for a new striker for a little while now.
Chelsea were linked with numerous number nines in the summer.
Victor Osimhen was a Chelsea target throughout the last transfer window, while Chelsea also looked at Ivan Toney at one point.
Of course, the landscape of the transfer market is ever-changing, and now, a new striker has come onto the Blues’ radar.
Indeed, according to David Ornstein, speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, Liam Delap is now on Chelsea’s radar just a few months after he made a £20m move to Ipswich.

Chelsea looking at Liam Delap
Ornstein shared what he knows about Delap after his solid start to the season with Ipswich.
Delap has been labelled the next Harry Kane by Danny Murphy recently, and Chelsea are taking notice of his performances.
“And through multiple conversations I had, it was clear that, you know, the biggest guns, the so-called top six, members of that, call it elite bracket if you like, such as your Chelsea’s, your Manchester United’s, are taking a very close look. They’re monitoring, they’ve got interest in him. They’ve got interest in lots of players.
“I’m not just saying it’s him, but he’s on these transfer lists, the recruitment targets that they weigh up. They constantly consider the qualities of, the drawbacks, the data and so on. That’s brought the information to me that if he continues on this rise, we’re going to be dealing with somebody that Ipswich face a battle, maybe even a struggle to keep hold of next summer, even if they stay in the Premier League.”
Who else could sign Liam Delap?
Delap has been one of the breakout stars in the Premier League this season, netting at a respectable rate in an Ipswich team that barely creates any chances.

Of course, these sorts of performances don’t fly under the radar for too long, and other clubs are taking notice.
As Ornstein says, Chelsea are keen, while the journalist also namedropped Manchester United as an interested party.
Tottenham have been linked with Delap recently as they look to add more depth up front amid Richarlison’s ongoing injury problems.
Meanwhile, Manchester City haven’t ruled out re-signing Delap just 12 months after selling him to Ipswich.
City are seriously lacking depth in their attack after selling Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid in the summer, and Delap may well be tempted to return to the club where he spent so many years coming through the academy.
