Iliman Ndiaye committed a foul by forcing the own goal which put Everton 3-0 up against Wolves on Wednesday, David Prutton has said.
Speaking on world feed commentary (4 December, 8:42pm), the Sky Sports pundit argued that Ndiaye’s contribution to the own goal – blocking off Wolves keeper Jose Sa – should have been ruled as a foul.
Establishing that James Tarkowski’s first-half effort had been disallowed for much less contact on Mario Lemina, Prutton questioned the consistency of letting Dawson’s own-goal stand in a similar scenario.
He said: “There is more in that contact between Iliman Ndiaye and Jose Sa than there was in the second goal that was chalked off – explain that to me please.”
“I’m just not comfortable with that contact at the base of this, between the goalkeeper and Iliman Ndiaye.

“In context of what’s been disallowed already in this game – consistency would deem that contact being the same as the other contact – but what do I know?”
Everton get stroke of luck they needed amid massive Wolves win
It’s rare that at the end of a well-deserved 4-0 win on home soil, the man of the match is arguably an opposition player, but many a Toffees fan will have been singing Dawson’s praises at full-time.
While the defender’s two own-goals – the first of which left Prutton uncertain – put the game beyond Wolves’ reach in the second half, the Blues were firmly on top from the very first whistle at Goodison.

Other than Tarkowski’s disallowed goal in the first half, which would have doubled the lead after Ashley Young’s sensational free-kick, Sean Dyche will be delighted with everything about his side’s display.
Dawson getting the final touch on two pinpoint second-half crosses did however deny Dominic Calvert-Lewin from getting there himself, meaning the striker’s wait for a third goal of the campaign continues.
However, with the likes of Ndiaye given the freedom to pull the strings and their set-piece routines working to perfection, this is a victory which should set Everton’s benchmark for the rest of the season.
