Aston Villa fans will love what Emi Martinez's wife has posted on Instagram after win over…

There isn’t a more popular man at Aston Villa than Emi Martinez.

Life has been difficult for Aston Villa in recent weeks, especially after their 3-0 defeat to Chelsea over the weekend at Stamford Bridge.

Martinez injured his hand against Chelsea and was supposed to be a doubt for Villa’s win over Brentford on Wednesday night.

Despite being touch and go before kick-off, and still seemingly having an injured hand, the world’s number one soldered on and started in between the sticks.

Aston Villa were back to their best, with Brentford only having one shot on target and that, unfortunately, was rifled into the back of the net.

Other than that, Martinez collected and dealt with everything during the match, with no sign that he had any problems with his hand.

After the match, Martinez’s wife – Mandinha Martinez – posted on her Instagram story – about her husband’s performance and his injury.

Villa have kept one clean sheet in the Premier League and you can bet your bottom dollar, no man will be more disappointed than the man with the gloves.

Whilst life in the Premier League is proving to be tough, Villa have kept four clean sheets in the Champions League and that is something worth smiling about.

But after that much-needed win over Brentford, Villa fans will love Martinez’s wife’s reaction to the game and him playing with an injury.

Holding their daughter, Emi’s wife posted: ‘@emimartinez26. We were so tired today, but we came for you! I know that you pushed yourself today to play for your club. I know that hand still hurts, but this is why you are the best in the world. We are so proud of you.’

Martinez in the Champions League and the Premier League

Villa have only conceded one goal in the Champions League and that was that odd Tyrone Mings penalty handball.

Other than that, the team haven’t been that threatened, but the same can’t be said for the Premier League.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to fans, but Martinez is rated 7.82 by WhoScored in the Champions League and far worse on the domestic scene.
