I think Mohamed Salah has had a contract offer and it's not from Liverpool

William Gallas is convinced Mohamed Salah has been handed a lucrative contract that could tempt him away from Liverpool

Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender William Gallas is convinced Mohamed Salah has received a contract offer from Saudi Arabia and that is the reason he's not yet signed a new deal with Liverpool. The Egyptian will be out of contract in the summer but the pressure is on the Reds to sign him up to fresh terms as he leads their title charge.

Salah scored twice and set up another as Liverpool drew 3-3 with Newcastle at St James' Park last night to take his goal and assist tally to 15 and 12 respectively. It means the 32-year-old is in his best form since his first season at Anfield, in which he struck 44 goals in all competitions.

And having already seen a £150m bid from Saudi Arabia rejected in summer 2023, Gallas believes that Salah will already have a contract on the table from the Saudi Pro League and the numbers involved make it difficult for Liverpool to compete.

Gallas told Prime Casino: "I think Mo Salah has a big offer from Saudi, and the problem is, I don't think Liverpool can give him what he wants. I'm sure the salary that the Saudi’s have offered him is huge money.

"If Liverpool can’t match the offer or make him an offer that he wants, it looks like at the end of the season, he will go there.

"He's won everything with Liverpool. You can see with his performances this season that maybe he has got a new target. It looks like he wants to finish as the best scorer in the Premier League, to get the golden boots, and it looks like he wants to win the Premier League or the Champions League again this season.

"If you asked me if Salah was more likely to go or more likely to sign a new deal, it looks like he will leave the club."
