Claim Manchester City man doesn’t ‘serve team’s interests’ – Player’s lack of quality visible from ‘first game’

Manchester City’s Issa Kaboré isn’t good enough for Benfica and could be on the move in the winter market.

That’s according to former Benfica Diamantino Miranda, and he revealed this during a chat with CMTV, with Futebol 365 relaying his comments.

Since the start of the 2021/22 season, Manchester City have sent Kaboré out on loan to Troyes, Marseille, Luton Town and the Eagles.

The 23-year-old arrived at the Portuguese club in the summer window and played 192 minutes from six games of which 10 minutes were in the league.

Last month, we covered claims from Portugal which states Benfica have started talks with Manchester City to cut short the right-back’s loan deal in January.

Later that month, Benfica manager Bruno Lage stated “everyone is focused” on the club when asked about the possibility of Kaboré’s exit in the winter market.

Diamantino Miranda now works as a pundit and is not at all convinced by the defender’s performances this season.

“From the very first game, if I’m not mistaken in Belgrade, it was clear that the player didn’t have the quality to add anything to Benfica,” he said.

“In football, everyone makes mistakes. There’s no-one who doesn’t make mistakes. the player didn’t serve the interests of the team.”

According to the 65-year-old former midfielder, Lage and other Benfica officials have to make a decision over the Manchester City man’s future next month.

“It was realised right from the start that the player wasn’t suitable, and it’s now up to the board and the coach to decide the best course of action,” Diamantino Miranda explained.
