Declan Rice reveals secret to Arsenal's set-piece success after Man Utd victory

Declan Rice has hailed Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover for helping the Gunners become experts at scoring from corners.

Jurrien Timber and William Saliba both netted from corners in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Manchester United on Wednesday, taking their tally of goals from set pieces since the start of the 2023/24 season to 22 - the highest in the Premier League.

Rice has also recorded assists for seven of those goals thanks to his shared role with Bukayo Saka as Arsenal's primary corner takers, and the midfielder explained how he has become so reliable from dead-balls.

"When you go up for a corner it's a chance to score a goal, so to score both of them from corners, Nico [Jover] will be buzzing and I'm so happy," Rice told the media.

"Seeing clips, I know the weight I need to put on the ball and it's just about repetition. I put a few good balls in and could've had a couple of assists so it was nice to get one."

Arsenal's reliance on corners did not go down well with United head coach Ruben Amorim, who suggested Saka and fellow winger Gabriel Martinelli were too happy playing for corners.

Mikel Arteta, however, argued that Arsenal were simply "exploiting weaknesses" and doing what it takes to give themselves any possible advantage in the Premier League title race.
