Wolves were hammered against Everton on Wednesday night in a humiliating 4-0 defeat which saw multiple unwanted records broken.
The Old Gold were simply abysmal on Wednesday night. In a game that could have seen the club emerge from the relegation zone, they instead collapsed.
While Gary O’Neil may be on the brink of the sack, it is unimaginable that a squad boasting so many experienced and international players are in this position.
Wolves’ form so far this campaign has been painful for many of the Old Gold faithful and the woeful records they broke against the Toffees proves why.

One of the most infuriating aspects of the night came in the second half. With the club already 2-0 down, many expected some sort of reaction from the squad.
However, the players managed to somehow put in an even worse performance and one of the biggest culprits was Craig Dawson.
The centre-back struggled throughout the game and was abysmal when it came to defending set-pieces.
During the second period, the centre-back somehow managed to score two own goals.

The first was laughable as the ball cannoned off the defender’s arm and into the net while the second simply confounded the visitor’s misery.
While conceding two own goals in a single game is rare, for Wolves, it is unheard of for the same player to commit this offence.
According to Wolves Complete History, the last player to achieve this came in 1900 when George Flemming netted two own goals in a 2-2 draw with Preston North End.

Wolves’ defence this season is nothing short of laughable. The players simply cannot defend and O’Neil has now overseen more than 100 goals conceded throughout his Old Gold reign.
Against the Toffees, the visitors proved how incapable they were at an alarming rate. Everton had struggled to find the net all season and went into the game without a goal in their last four.
Yet, Wolves ensured the hosts came away with an easy victory with Everton having the ball in the net six times – two of which were later disallowed.
Now, after conceding an eyewatering 36 goals in 14 matches, the club now have their worst defensive record in the top flight at this stage since their 1964/65 campaign.
During that season, Wolves had conceded 40 goals by this stage before they were relegated later in the campaign.

The Premier League table looks bleak for Wolves fans. With the club sat in 19th place they are now three points off safety with an awful goal difference.
If they are to survive, a massive turnaround is needed after just picking up nine points in 14 games.
Such a feat has not been repeated for years with the last time Wolves picked up so few points coming in the 2010/11 campaign when the club managed to stay up on the final day.
With the club eventually reaching 40 points in that campaign, it is hard to imagine O’Neil’s side achieving this as it stands.
