“Winning games with ease” – Sky pundit says Chelsea will “finish above Man City”

One pundit who works for Sky Sports has mentioned that he now believes Chelsea will be finishing this season ahead of Manchester City.

Things have gone from bad to worse for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side, although they did get a much needed win against Nottingham Forest last night. Before that though, they were going through some disastrous form and it saw them slip down the league table and move further away from table toppers Liverpool. It’s become a real downfall for Guardiola and his City side, who have often looked invisible in recent seasons.

Chelsea have just been quietly watching on from afar and going about their business at the same time. So much so that they managed to leapfrog City in the league, making the most of their downward tick in form.

Enzo Maresca has got this Chelsea team purring right now, and they are currently the closest side to Liverpool, being second in the league.

Never write City off

City and Pep got a much needed win last night

You wont ever find me writing City off under Guardiola, but pundit Jamie Carragher is. Although you can argue that he is actually more backing Chelsea here rather than writing City off, and that is a testament to how well they are doing under Maresca.

Speaking on The Overlap this week, Carragher said:

“I’m telling you, I think Chelsea are going to finish above Man City. They’re winning games with ease.”

At the start of the season, many pundits like Carragher were not even putting Chelsea in the top four race, and now many of them are speaking about them as title contenders. Madness. Maresca has well and truly over-achieved I think so far at least.
