The signs have been there all season, but it is clear to see that Manchester City’s rebuild is coming, and it will likely begin next summer. Although the 24/25 season is far from a write-off for Pep Guardiola’s season. The world champions have just come out of a seven-game winless run with their victory over Nottingham Forest last night. But despite having all to play for this season Manchester City’s rebuild is coming.
With that in mind, one player who does look to be one of the perfect additions to Manchester City’s squad is Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala. The German international is one of the best young players in world football. He looks set to be a star of the game for the foreseeable future. If Manchester City were looking for a player to replace either Kevin De Bruyne or Bernardo Silva, for example, Musiala would likely be at the top of that list. At one point it did appear that the signs were indicating that Musiala could end up at the Etihad. If that were the case then it would be massive news for Manchester City. But now a new report indicates that Jamal Musiala will not be part of Manchester City’s rebuild.

Florian Plettenberg has reported on X that Jamal Musiala is set to sign a contract extension with Bayern Munich. At the end of this season, Musiala would have had one year left on his current contract. However, Plettenberg’s report indicates that Musiala is set to sign either a 4 or 5-year contract extension with the Bundesliga giants.
Plettenberg’s report suggests that Jamal Musiala won’t be a part of Manchester City’s rebuild. Although the idea of Musiala playing has always been a tantalising one, it always appeared likely that he would stay at Bayern Munich. That appears to be the reality of the situation with the German international. Manchester City will now likely have to cast their eye elsewhere as they seek to rebuild their squad. Jamal Musiala would’ve ticked a lot of boxes in regards to being a player for City to build their next era of dominance around. But the odds are now that he will stay in Germany with Bayern Munich.
