The Premier League have confirmed their team of match officials to oversee proceedings between Crystal Palace and Manchester City this weekend.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side will be keen to build upon their return to winning ways in midweek, ending a run of seven successive matches across all competitions without a win since October 26.
It was a relatively straight forward evening in the end for the Premier League champions as goals from Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, and Jeremy Doku secured all three points and cut the gap between themselves and Liverpool to nine points.
There is still plenty of work to do before Manchester City can consider their rough patch of form to be over, and manager Pep Guardiola insisted on that belief when he spoke to the media after Wednesday night’s win.
And that starts with a challenging trip to Selhurst Park this weekend, and a ground that City have certainly endured mixed fortunes in recent seasons, and as such will know that they will need to be at their very best to secure three points once again.
Ahead of the meeting between Crystal Palace and Manchester City, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at Selhurst Park!
Match Referee
The Premier League have confirmed that Rob Jones will oversee proceedings from the position of match referee at Selhurst Park this weekend, in what will be his 10th English top-flight match of the season.
So far this campaign, the 37-year-old has issued a total of 48 yellow cards across his nine matches, two dismissals – one via a second yellow and another via a straight red card, and awarded three penalties.
This will be the first time this season that Jones has taken charge of a Manchester City contest in the Premier League, having taken charge of one game at Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace lost 0-2 to West Ham United in August.
Jones has however officiated Manchester City in the Carabao Cup and the first of the club’s seven-game winless streak as Tottenham defeated Pep Guardiola’s side 2-1 in the fourth round of the competition.
In all of their matches officiated by Rob Jones, that is Manchester City’s only defeat and have won all other nine contests, with 14 yellow cards issued in that time and five penalties awarded, with just the one dismissal via a second yellow card.
Assistant Referees
Supporting Rob Jones from the roles of assistant referees in South London this weekend will be Ian Hussin and Neil Davies, the Premier League have confirmed.
Video Assistant Referees
As for the roles being taken up at Stockley Park for Crystal Palace against Manchester City, the Premier League have confirmed Stuart Attwell as the Video Assistant Referee, and Adrian Holmes as the Assistant Video Assistant Referee.
Fourth Official
Patrolling the technical areas at Selhurst Park and ensuring that proceedings are kept in check between Oliver Glasner and Pep Guardiola will be the contest’s appointed fourth official, Sam Barrott.
