Newcastle United and Liverpool played out a pulsating 3-3 draw at St James’ Park on Wednesday night.
The Magpies were winless in their previous two matches, but they produced an excellent display last night to snatch a point from the Reds.
Newcastle made a bright start to the home encounter and found themselves ahead after 35 minutes through Alexander Isak’s brilliant strike from distance.
Liverpool levelled the scores early in the second-half when Curtis Jones fired home a first-time strike from Mohamed Salah’s cross.
Anthony Gordon restored the hosts’ lead before Salah struck twice to put the Reds on the brink of victory.
However, Fabian Schar popped up with a 90th-minute equaliser, forcing the visitors to share the spoils.
Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison was left hugely impressed with the 32-year-old, calling his finish ‘outrageous’.
The former Republic of Ireland international said: “The finish from Fabian Schar is outrageous. I don’t know how he puts it in from the byline. And it is with his left foot. It is fantastic. What a finish from Fabian Schar. Brilliant”.

Schar was at the top of his game yesterday, as he produced a solid display at St James’ Park.
Apart from his late equaliser, the centre-back made a brilliantly timed challenge on Luis Diaz when it was really needed.
He also posted impressive statistics in the match, winning 100% of his duels.
The Swiss footballer had 60 touches, completing 40 of his 53 passes.
He lost possession on 13 occasions but registered a tackle, an interception and a clearance.
Schar will hope to continue his good form when Newcastle face Brentford at the weekend.
