Inter Milan & Juventus To Break Record For Matches Played In A Season With New Champions League & FIFA Club World Cup…

Inter Milan and Juventus could break the record for matches played in a season with the new Champions League and Club World Cup formats.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Inter and Juventus are the two teams from Serie A who will participate in the Club World Cup at the end of the season.

That means a minimum of three extra matches for both teams.

Meanwhile, both the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri are also in the Champions League.

That is a competition that UEFA has tacked two extra matches on in the “league phase” compared to the group stage of seasons past.

Then, there is also the matter of a potential playoff round for the round of sixteen.

Inter Milan & Juventus Could Set Record For Matches Played In A Season

These expanded competitions are what really catch the eye.

But they don’t change the fact that for both Inter and Juventus, the bulk of the season is their 38-match Serie A campaign.

On top of that, there are as many as five Coppa Italia matches if either or both reach the final.

Lastly, both Inter and Juventus are playing in the Supercoppa Italiana next month.

That entails at least one – and potentially two – extra matches.

The highest possible number of matches that Inter or Juventus could play this season would be 69.

And even without hitting that total, the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri are on course to set a record.
