Manchester United have been linked to Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand who has a £66m release clause.
The Red Devils have looked better under new manager Ruben Amorim who joined from the Portuguese side in the November international break.
However, they come off a 2-0 defeat to Premier League title challengers Arsenal which is potentially an indication that they need reinforcements in the January transfer window.

Recent reports have emerged suggesting that United could make a move for Sporting CP defender Morten Hjulmand who played under Amorim for over a year.
According to Danish outlet Tipsbladet via TeamTalk, reporter Gianluca di Marzio said: “Amorim loves Hjulmand, so he can accompany him to Manchester United.
“When Amorim was in dialogue with other clubs, including Liverpool [before Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp], Hjulmand has been on every list of players he wants to take with him. He is definitely a player who will be able to follow Amorim and go to Manchester United, because Amorim really likes him.”
The defensive midfielder has made 10 appearances for Sporting this season in the league with one goal and one assist. The 25-year-old would provide a long-term replacement for Casemiro and Christian Eriksen who are both the wrong side of 30.
Fellow Sporting CP star linked to Manchester United
Hjulmand isn’t the only Sporting CP player that has been linked to United since Ruben Amorim joined at Old Trafford.
Striker Viktor Gyokeres has also been linked over a move to Old Trafford. Reports emerged in November that United could offer a swap deal with striker Joshua Zirkzee. He has also been linked to Arsenal.
Sporting are keen to keep hold of the Swedish international and so they are expected to demand that interested clubs pay his £83m release clause.
