Liverpool and Everton are set to go head-to-head in the Merseyside derby on Saturday, and Paul Merson has made his prediction.
Everton will head into this one high in confidence after getting the better of Wolves last time out, whilst Liverpool were held to a 3-3 draw at St James’ Park.
Sean Dyche will likely stick with Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top after his performance, as he put himself about and brought others into the game.
A win against Liverpool would go a long way towards getting the Friedkin Group off his back and could even put the manager search on hold, despite David Moyes being lined up.
Paul Merson has given his prediction on what will happen in the Merseyside derby, and it looks like he could be setting himself up for embarrassment again.

Paul Merson makes his Everton vs Liverpool prediction
Paul Merson had a tweet go viral for all the wrong reasons last night, as he predicted a comfortable win for Wolves, which ended up coming back to bite him.
And he’s now made his prediction for the Merseyside derby ahead of Saturday.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, he said this.
“This would be the last Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, what an iconic venue it’s been in the Premier League. Everton got a great result against Wolves on Wednesday. I never thought they would get four goals in a game this season! That win puts them in a good position, but this is a tough game.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
“Liverpool dropped points against Newcastle and cannot afford to do the same again on Saturday. The Everton fans will always make it difficult for them. But it helps Liverpool that Everton beat Wolves quite comfortably in the last game. Everton will now turn up thinking they have a chance and have a swing at Liverpool. This will help Arne Slot’s team pick them apart in my opinion.
“The league leaders looked a bit jaded in midfield during that 3-3 draw at Newcastle. Curtis Jones came in for Dominik Szoboszlai but Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch got no rest. Newcastle’s midfield also had a good mixture of power and guile, with Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Joelinton playing there. As such, it is no surprise that Liverpool were a bit outplayed in midfield.
“Newcastle thoroughly deserved that draw and their performance is a blueprint for everyone trying to stop Liverpool this season. But even when they were not at their best, Liverpool still scored three goals away from home and that’s not something many teams in the world can do. Mohamed Salah always turns up when needed and he did that, a proper big game player.
“I don’t understand why Slot did not play Trent Alexander-Arnold from the start though. He showed his class after coming on. You could say the manager was protecting him for the Merseyside derby. But I think he should have been in the starting line-up.
“Everton must score first if they want to get a result in this game and the only way they can do that is through set-pieces in my opinion. I can’t see them troubling Liverpool otherwise and I expect the visitors to secure all three points at Goodison Park.”
Prediction: Everton 0-2 Liverpool
Paul Merson’s recent Everton predictions
As you can see, the Wolves prediction didn’t go well at all, but how has he fared throughout the season?
Well, Merson had a ‘sneak feeling’ Manchester United would beat Everton 2-0, and he got the outcome right but the score was slightly off.
Merson doubted the Toffees against West Ham, predicting a 2-0 win for the Hammers.
A theme is being recognised here, as Merson also went for a 2-1 Southampton win, though he was right to be fair to him with the outcome in that one.
Perhaps there’s some kind of agenda against Everton we’re not aware of, or maybe he’s just as fed up as some of the fans are when it comes to performances in recent weeks.
