Liverpool look likely to be in the market for a new attacker in 2025.
The Reds brought in Federico Chiesa last summer, but the Italian has yet to find his spark at Anfield. There are question marks over his long-term suitability.
Should Mohamed Salah leave on a free transfer as well, then the Egyptian is certainly going to need replacing.
Factor in Darwin Nunez’s poor form and you can easily see a scenario in which Liverpool are yet again trying to reshape their forward line.
If Salah does leave, there have been claims that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is high on Liverpool’s list of potential replacements. Nico Williams has also been put forward as someone who joins Kvaratskhelia as a top target.
And according to journalist David Ornstein, Williams may have just opened the door to a move to Anfield.

Nico Williams open to Premier League move
Liverpool were linked with Williams last summer after the Athletic Bilbao forward lit up Euro 2024 with Spain.
However, the feeling at the time was that Williams was holding out to join Barcelona and would snub any interest from England.

Speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, though, Ornstein says that the 22-year-old is now more open to a switch to the Premier League, with Liverpool one of the teams on his trail.
“There is a [release] clause in the case of Williams,” says the reporter. “Fantastic player who has been of interest to Premier League clubs for some time now.”
“He had his heart set on joining Barcelona last summer which is why Premier League clubs didn’t get their way.

“They didn’t make the move and from conversations I’ve had it seems that he might be more open to a move to the Premier League in 2025 than he was before.
“That poses the question will these teams come again, because Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, they’ve all got admiration for him that goes back a long time,” Ornstein adds.
“I’m not saying they are moving for him now but I would keep an eye on him. Improbable for January, more likely for the summer but you never know. It may be a case that clubs try but are unsuccessful.”
Nico Williams could soften Mohamed Salah blow
There are very few players in the world who could replicate what Salah has given to Liverpool.
If the 32-year-old does end up leaving, the Reds will not be able to find a direct swap for his output.
What they can instead do is bet on a young player who could develop in the same way Salah himself has done since joining in 2017.

In that respect, Williams would be a very good option indeed. The Spain international is a big name and an explosive player who could yet become a really special player.
His release clause reportedly stands at around £49m and that would not break the bank for Liverpool either.
This could certainly be one to watch in 2025.
