We may have scored five goals away from home, having changed more than half of the starting XI, but Enzo Maresca used his post-Southampton press conference to reiterate the importance of his players not letting their standards slip, otherwise a team-mate will take their place.
On Sunday it was Pedro Neto, Jadon Sancho and Nicolas Jackson. Last night, Joao Felix, Noni Madueke and Christopher Nkunku. But the end result was the same outcome: lots of goals and an impressive win.
Wherever you look across this Chelsea team, whether it is Robert Sanchez or Filip Jorgensen at one end or our exciting attackers at the other, there is quality throughout, and you only have to look at the substitutes bench to see the level of player who is missing out on a weekly basis.
But this is not a squad where the head coach has his favourite XI and the rest have to just deal with it. As he has stressed on more that one occasion this season, Maresca does not have 'two different teams' and the Italian has proven he is willing to change his Premier League side around if he believes someone deserves their chance more.
If you don't perform every day in training, you will not be lining up on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon in the Premier League or on a Thursday night in the Conference League. A starting place is not guaranteed. It is earned. Every day.
Speaking after Chelsea's 5-1 win at Southampton, Maresca said: 'There are players behind who are ready. We have four wingers who are all very good: Pedro and Noni for the right side, Jadon and Misha for the left side. In the moment one of them drops, there is one behind who is ready.
'Noni is not allowed to drop because Pedro is there and doing fantastic, and if Pedro plays he is not allowed to drop because Noni is there. This is what we have to understand if we want to be there or be close to something important.'
Last night, it was Axel Disasi, Nkunku, Madueke, Cole Palmer and Sancho who provided the goals. On Sunday during Chelsea's 3-0 win over Aston Villa, Jackson and Enzo Fernandez joined Palmer on the scoresheet. Three days before that, it was Nkunku and Mudryk in Heidenheim.
Whilst our defenders have been chipping in from set-pieces, Maresca puts a lot of emphasis on his attacking players scoring so he'll be delighted to see the Blues have had 15 goalscorers already this season and we are only just over a third of the way through the Premier League season.
Maresca said: 'The two wingers, the two attacking midfielders and the number nine are in charge of the goals. You can see the goals from Noni, from Jadon, from Cole, from Nico, from Christo, they are all attacking players. It’s a good feeling all of them can be involved in the goals.
'Also, only three or four teams have conceded fewer than us, which we are very happy about.'
Liverpool (11), Arsenal (14) and Tottenham (14) are the only teams to have conceded less than Chelsea's 15 in the Premier League this season so it will come as no surprise that Maresca confirmed Robert Sanchez would be back in goal for Sunday's trip to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
As for who will be in front of him, well Maresca has made it very clear that will depend on who has impressed him most at Cobham over the coming days.
