A flashback to early 2024 sees Roy Hodgson clinging on to his job as Crystal Palace manager, as Steve Parish made the correct call.
The club ultimately let Roy Hodgson depart in February, with the magnificent Austrian Oliver Glasner taking his place.
This saw Glasner lead Crystal Palace on a long unbeaten and winning streak which led to a 10th-place finish. Glasner broke several records along the way.
However, following the successes of 2023/24, this season has been a far more difficult task as the Eagles sit 17th with two wins all season long.
Things could have been worse, with one manager linked heavily as a Hodgson replacement now nearing the sack at his new club.
Crystal Palace almost appointed Julen Lopetegui
Before appointing Glasner, Julen Lopetegui was heavily linked with joining Crystal Palace as manager- although he rejected the chance.
While Lopetegui currently has West Ham three points and three places above Glasner’s Palace – the expectations for the Hammers are far higher after their marquee summer.

Due to this, and the fact Glasner is working on a limited budget at Selhurst Park – the Eagles will feel glad to not have appointed the Spaniard.

Lopetegui’s West Ham were on the losing side to Leicester City in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first game as manager on Tuesday and this has left him on the cusp.
After spending £119m on transfers, West Ham was expecting a good season with David Moyes’ replacement supposed to lead them up the league.
However, this has been far from the truth.

Lopetegui nears sack for West Ham
As the December schedule heats up, Loptegui finds himself on the cusp according to talkSPORT.
Following a run of just one win in five, and four all season, the club are growing weary.
West Ham will be evaluating their options at a time when Crystal Palace look to be back on the rise.
This upcoming fixture on Monday for Lopetegui looks deciding – as it also does for Wolves’ Gary O’Neil.
So with this in mind, the Eagles’ situation is not too bad as we begin to catch some form after three games unbeaten.
