Manchester City will reportedly avoid relegation from the Premier League
Manchester City are reportedly unlikely to face relegation, whatever the result of their trial over alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules.
City were hit with 115 charges in February 2023 over allegedly breaching the Premier League's Financial Fair Play rules, a claim they have vehemently denied. The club could face severe repercussions such as relegation, significant points deduction, hefty fines or even stripping of all titles if found guilty of violating the English football body's financial regulations between 2009 and 2018.
The proceedings, which kicked off in September, have taken place at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in London (IDRC). But the outcome is unlikely to result in relegation for City, according to the Independent.

It is said that a minority of clubs within the Premier League are pushing for expulsion if the most serious charges are proven. However, such an outcome would require a special shareholders meeting and vote of 15.
The report adds that is not expected to be a situation witnessed this season due to the near certainty that one of the sides will appeal the outcome.
The Times recently suggested it is unlikely the verdict will be announced before the end of the 2024/25 Premier League season. Meanwhile, a report from the Daily Mail claimed a conclusion could be reached in the 'spring or summer.'
Of the 115 charges, 54 relate to allegations against the club for failing to provide accurate and up-to-date financial reports to the league from 2009/10 to 2017/18. A further 35 charges are related to the club's alleged failure to cooperate with the Premier League's investigation between December 2018 and February 2023.
