Wolves under 21s were defeated 3-0 at Molineux against a tough young Ajax side in the Premier League International Cup on Wednesday evening.
Despite the result, head coach James Collins has highlighted the positives from the performance and is looking ahead to the next challenge.
**On the performance**
“I thought we started the game well, first half I thought we edged it.
“We won the ball back consistently and caused them problems.
“In the second half they man-for-man pressed us and made it harder for us to play out, and we struggled under that pressure.”
**On the experience of playing at Molineux**
“These competitions are brilliant for us.
“We know where we are with the group, we are playing Ajax there with one of the world's best youth systems.
“That feeling of going 2-0 down under the lights Infront of their families, they need to find another gear because if we get a goal back then it is game on.”
**On positives to take into the Valencia game**
“There are always positives, I think Alfie Pond looks ready for either the first-team or loan.
“We are here to learn and develop, the players will learn as much losing 3-0 tonight as much as they would have winning 3-0.
“We have to do better than we did and the players know that.”
