Albert Stuivenberg agrees new Arsenal contract

Arsenal assistant manager Albert Stuivenberg has reportedly agreed terms on a new contract to extend his stay with the club for the foreseeable future.

According to exclusive information revealed by the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano, Stuivenberg has agreed terms on a new contract which will run until June 2027.

The news has come as a massive boost for the club, just months after Stuivenberg was the subject of interest from a top European club about potentially becoming their manager during the summer.

In April, Stuivenberg was revealed as being on Feyenoord’s radar as a potential successor to now Liverpool boss Arne Slot, although the Eredivisie side eventually elected to appoint former Sparta Prague, Royal Antwerp and Midtjylland manager Brian Priske.

Stuivenberg has been at Arsenal since Mikel Arteta took control of the North London side back in December 2019, and has been the Spaniard’s right-hand man ever since.

Stuivenberg is not expected to be the only member of Arteta’s backroom team to sign a new contract in the near future, with Carlos Cuesta, Miguel Molina and fan-favourite set-piece coach Nicolas Jover all expected to join Arteta and Stuivenberg in extending their stay with Arsenal.

Cuesta has also recently been the subject of interest from another club, as he was reportedly one of the frontrunners considered for the Norwich City managerial vacancy before the Canaries eventually appointed former FC Nordsjaelland manager Johannes Hoff Thorup in May 2024.

Had Cuesta joined Norwich earlier this year, he may not have been the only person at the club with an Arsenal connection after former player and U18s manager Jack Wilshere joined the Canaries as a first-team coach in October this year.

Fans have reacted positively to news of Stuivenberg’s imminent contract extension, with one supporter saying: “They [the coaches] are doing such a wonderful job at Arsenal! They are not too far away from winning silverware and I firmly believe that!”
