Predicting Ruud van Nistelrooy's starting XI at Leicester after the January transfer window -…

Leicester City don’t often dip into the January transfer window but they’re expected to this season as they look to move clear of the relegation zone.

Ruud van Nistelrooy clearly needs defensive reinforcement as Leicester have been leaking goals all season, so that’s certainly an area which needs addressing.

Following Abdul Fatawu’s injury, the Foxes are really short of options out wide and could do with a right-sided winger.

It’s also become pretty obvious that a striker should be top of their transfer shortlist, with Jamie Vardy not getting any younger.

So with that said, here is what Leicester’s starting line-up could look like come the end of January.

The three signings Leicester should make in January

Pascal Struijk (Leeds): Van Nistelrooy will be eager to sign a ball-playing centre-back in January and Struijk would be the ideal addition.

The 25-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the Championship and Leeds may have to sell due to Financial Fair Play regulations – which forced City to sell Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Nicolas Khun (Celtic): It’s imperative Leicester sign a replacement for the injured Fatawu and Celtic’s Kuhn should be on the club’s radar after his electrifying start to the season.

The Celtic man has registered 22 goal involvements in just 20 outings and scored a wondergoal against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

Evan Ferguson (Brighton): Ferguson has been made available for loan by Brighton and if Leicester can land his signature, it’d be a real coup.

The Republic of Ireland international remains one of the most promising strikers in Europe but just needs regular opportunities to showcase it.

If Leicester were to do a loan deal for Ferguson, they’d need to terminate one of their current loan players – likely Odsonne Eduoard.

Predicting Leicester’s XI after January window

Here is how van Nistelrooy’s XI could look after the winter window should he sign the three aforementioned players.

Indeed, Vardy wouldn’t be replaced by Ferguson but the pair could rotate to help manage the minutes of the veteran striker.

Or, perhaps van Nistelrooy finds a way to get them both in the same side, reverting to a traditional 4-4-2 approach – which he likes to use out of possession anyway.
