Barcelona appear to have suffered a blow in the race to try and sign [Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/fc-barcelona-transfer-rumors-news/2024/2/20/24077334/alphonso-davies-agent-holds-meetings-with-barcelona-and-real-madrid).
Davies is out of contract at the end of the season and had been linked with a move to Barcelona as well as several other top European clubs.
However, the latest update from Germany suggests he could end up staying at Bayern Munich instead and extending his contract.
Reporter Florian Plettenberg has posted on X that Bayern have made “significant progress” with regards an extension and “negotiations are ongoing and positive.”
A new deal is not done and dusted just yet but talks certainly seem to be heading in that direction, with Davies having “made significant concessions to Bayern” in regards to salary.
Further “crucial talks” are due to take place before Christmas, but it sounds as though Barca may have to look elsewhere next summer.
