Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola kisses the FIFA Club World Cup trophy
The draw for the inaugral edition of the new Club World Cup format gets underway this evening in Miami, ahead of this summer's tournament in the United States.
The likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will eagerly await their route to lifting the trophy as they participate in the 32-team competition with rivals from all across the globe. The expanded tournament will take place between June 15 and July 13 2025.
There are 12 teams from Europe who have reserved their place in the competition, with City, Chelsea and Real Madrid earning their place after earning Champions League wins. The remaining sides from the continent have qualified via a Uefa ranking system determined by clubs' performances over the four seasons. Only two teams from each nation could compete in the competition however.
Asia, Africa and the North and Central America federation each have four places, with six places awarded to South American clubs, and one to Oceania. Inter Miami qualified for the competition as a team from the host nation.
