Journalist reveals “club’s work” on Arsenal man – Gunners transfer stance remains the same

Napoli are actively working on Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior behind the scenes to convince him to push to leave in January.

That’s according to Sky Sport Italy journalist Luca Marchetti, [via Area Napoli](https://www.areanapoli.it/calciomercato/sky---il-napoli-tratta-danilo-e-kiwior-in-via-ufficiale-le-risposte-di-juve-e-arsenal_573609.html), who confirms that negotiations over the Arsenal defender are taking place.

Kiwior has been heavily linked with a return to Italy over the last few weeks after finding himself out of the picture at Arsenal this season.

Napoli are known to be keen on him as they look to continue strengthening Antonio Conte’s squad and push for the Serie A title.

Various reports have explained that they would prefer to sign the 24-year-old on loan, but Arsenal have not opened up to that idea and made it clear they will only sanction a permanent exit.

Napoli’s plan is to try and convince them to change that stance ahead of January, although earlier this week it was hinted, they may give up entirely before too long.

Marchetti insists that isn’t the case at this moment in time and actually, Napoli are actually focusing their efforts on Kiwior instead of Arsenal.

“Can Kiwior arrive on loan, while Danilo can be bought on sale? We confirm that both negotiations are there, but they are not simple,” he told Forza Napoli Sempre on Radio Marte.

“Teams that have interesting players do not lend them to you at the start of the transfer market, and those who buy focus on the needs of those who sell, looking for those who are perhaps playing less at the moment.

“The club’s work is to make Kiwior understand that he could have more space at Arsenal, but they are not giving it to him. The Gunners, for their part, have made it known that they are willing to sell but not to lend.”
